Saw this on Flametoad (see link to the side), and I have to agree, it’s a cool video. Credit to the chords should go to who, though? Banjo’s Waltzing Matilda is probably the earliest song here…
If you have read any of my political posts, you’ll probably realize that I was quite happy to say goodbye to a certain political regime yesterday. I’m not entirely happy with the new one - I think Obama’s far too conservative - but I’m glad that the amoral scumbags who ran us into the ground over the last eight years are gone.
At least for now. I have a fear that they’ll be back, though. After all, Cheney and Rumsfeld were part of Nixon’s administration…
Still, until the inevitable Republican carping on the new president begins, the air is fresher, gravity is a little lighter, and the sunshine is just a tad bit clearer. It’s a good day to be an American.
Listen to this woman’s music. Now. Right NOW.
Are you still here? I said RIGHT NOW!!!
Especially Lon Dubh, her Scottish Gaelic version of The Beatles’s Blackbird. Auralgasm-inducing.
I love how the PC “upgrades” to Windows XP from Vista…
He will…
so incredibly not safe for work… you’ve been warned!
Sir Paul McCartney has released an album that is a series of experimentation with different styles, including an opening that is pretty raw blues. You can listen to the whole thing from a Flash player that doesn’t let you control the volume on the web site, or you can pay Sir Paul to download it (DRM-free, always a bonus for people who like to actually own their music), or get CDs. I’m listening to it from the web site right now, and I have to say that I like it a lot more than his last album. It’s not a return to the Beatles, or Wings - like I said at the top, it’s a series of experiments in all the styles that interest this consummate musical man. I think, for Paul, that’s every style out there. I give it a big thumbs up, and highly recommend paying the gentleman for it.
This story I caught off BoingBoing tells about workers in Argentina seizing the means of production by force after the factories have been shut down and rebuilding their lives - without management interference. Obviously, they are able to put out viable products and sell them, because the movement has been going on for 6 years.
So, what does this show us about whether owners and managers are really necessary?
UPDATE: Attempting not-quite-the-same-thing in America - and meeting the same level of hostility from the “owners” who have tried to erase the human dignity of the workers.
This may be a parody video… but I’m not really sure.
This reminded me of my favorite cover of this song:
Now, that one I know is a parody!
Zocchi is a legend - the original polyhedral dice manufacturer. I’ve owned at least a few of his dice since I was 12, and after watching these videos, now I know why…
and part 2…
Sure, let’s go ahead and build Skynet’s ground forces for it. What could possibly go wrong?
I had this thought a few times, myself:
Full disclosure - I saw Tron five times in one day when it came out. Yes, I was a total nerd. (Whattaya mean was?)
Speaking of Python, here’s a WoW tribute to one of their most classic skits…
This has been running through my brain the last couple of days, so I thought I’d share it with you.
They’ve disabled embedding, otherwise, I’d just pop it here for you to watch.
